Screening·Ava · Personal assistant·9 calls today·3 rang you

Your number is public. Your attention isn't.

Ava answers every call to your phone, finds out who's calling and why, and puts through the calls that matter. Scammers, sales calls and strangers get Ava first, not you.

The problem

Every ring is a decision you shouldn't have to make.

Is it the school, or someone selling solar panels? A client, or a caller pretending to be your bank? Picking up costs you your focus. Ignoring it can cost you the one call that mattered.

How calls are handled

Four ways in. You set the rule for each caller.

Before the call is even answered, the number is checked against your contacts. What happens next depends on the rule you've set for that caller.

  1. 01
    Never Connect

    Numbers you've blocked

Refused before the call is answered. They hear a busy signal. It never reaches Ava, and it doesn't use a minute.

    Never rings
  2. 02
    Always Connect

The people you'd never keep waiting

Recognised by their number, or when they tell Ava who they are from a phone you haven't saved, and put through without screening.

    Put through
  3. 03
    Known

    Contacts you've saved

Greeted by name, then asked what the call is about. Ava puts them through, or takes a message, depending on your rules.

    If it matters
  4. 04
    Screen

    Everyone else

Strangers, withheld numbers and anyone new are asked who they are and why they're calling. Ava judges the answer, not the number.

    If it matters
Scam callers

Scammers need you to pick up. Now they get Ava.

Scam calls work by catching you off guard and making it urgent. Ava can't be rushed, won't confirm a thing, and never pays for anything.

09:03 · Unknown number · Screening00:48
  1. Caller

This is the IRS. There's a warrant over unpaid taxes. I need to confirm his date of birth and home address right now.

  2. Ava

I'm not able to confirm any personal details. I can take a message with your name and a reference number.

  3. Caller

If this isn't dealt with today, officers will be sent to the house.

  4. Ava

I understand. I'll make sure he gets your message. What name should I give him?

Emailed to you: caller said they were the IRS and asked for your date of birth and address.

Whoever the caller says they are, Ava never

  • Says where you are

Or whether you're home, your schedule, your address or your family, however urgent the caller sounds.

  • Confirms details read out to her

Reading your details back and waiting for a "yes" is how stolen information gets checked.

  • Shares a number, email or account

Not yours, and not anyone else's.

  • Pays, buys or agrees to anything

No payments, purchases, appointments or promises on your behalf.

Urgent calls from "your bank", "the government" or "the police" are treated as suspicious. Ava takes a message, so you can check it yourself on a number you trust.

Ava doesn't use spam-number lists. Every caller you haven't saved has to explain who they are and why they're calling, and nothing is confirmed, shared or paid along the way. Numbers you block are refused before they ring.

Sales and marketing calls

Decide once which calls deserve you.

Ava sorts callers by what they're calling about. Twenty-one kinds of call, each set to put through or screen out. Change any of them.

When in doubt, put the caller through

Screened-out calls never reach your phone. Cold sales callers are told you're not interested. No arguing, no lingering.

You decide

When it might matter, Ava asks you first.

The caller hears hold music while your phone rings. Ava tells you who it is and what they want. Ask about the caller, then say what you want in plain words.

  • “Which John?”
  • “Put them through.”
  • “Tell her I'll call back at four.”
  • “Put him through, but tell him five minutes.”

Missed it?
If your voicemail picks up, Ava goes back to the caller and takes a message.
Put through?
Ava steps out. The conversation is between you and the caller.

  1. Ava

Sam Ortiz is on the line about an invoice. He says it's overdue.

  2. You

Which invoice? He's sent us two.

  3. Ava

I'll ask him. … He means the one for the kitchen remodel.

  4. You

Tell him I'll call back at four.

Ava goes back to Sam, passes it on, and emails you the summary.

Every message reaches your inbox.

When Ava takes a message, or you couldn't take a call, the summary lands in your inbox with a button to call back. Send it to more than one address if someone else should know.

Sam Ortiz called about the kitchen remodel invoice

Sam Ortiz called at 3:22 pm about an overdue invoice. He clarified it's the one for the kitchen remodel, not the earlier one.

What you asked for
Tell him I'll call back at four. Ava passed on your message.

What's kept, and what isn't

No call audio is recorded

The screening call and your private briefing with Ava are transcribed so she can summarize them. Once you're put through, she leaves the call and nothing more is transcribed.

Encrypted, then deleted

Transcripts, summaries and phone numbers are encrypted at rest, and call logs are deleted automatically after 90 days.

Honest about being an AI

Callers who ask are always told Ava is an AI. That can't be switched off.

Setup

Keep your number. We'll set Ava up with you.

About an hour together, including test calls, before Ava answers for real.

  1. 01

    Tell us who matters

Who Ava works for, who always gets through, and the calls you never want to hear about.

  2. 02

    Bring your contacts

Import an export from your phone or email, then set a rule for the people who matter.

  3. 03

    Forward your number

Your number forwards to Ava. She puts callers through to a second line of yours; an eSIM works.

  4. 04

    Test it together

We place test calls with you, from family to fake sales pitches, and tune Ava until it's right.

Who it's for

Your number is on every card, contract and listing.

For people whose phone is public by necessity, and whose time isn't.

  • 01

    Founders and executives

Funding pitches, vendors and recruiters don't get through. Your co-founder and your kids' school do.

  • 02

    Clinicians

The pharmacy and the practice reach you. Sales pitches don't.

  • 03

    Realtors and advisors

Clients and contractors reach you. “We can get you more leads” calls don't.

FAQ

Questions people ask before they hand over their phone

No, Ava doesn't use spam lists. You can block any number so it's refused before it rings. Everyone you haven't saved has to say who they are and why they're calling, and Ava never confirms details, shares information or makes payments, whoever the caller claims to be.
